Being helpful in many medical procedures, a platelet-rich plasma therapy procedure consists of drawing a person’s blood, processing, and then injecting into the scalp as a three-step medical treatment for hair loss. By increasing blood supply to the hair follicle and increasing the thickness of the hair shaft, the platelet-rich plasma, or PRP treatment for hair loss, includes injections that trigger natural hair growth and maintain it. With this in mind, we at Skin Body & Refinery would like to continue to further discuss this subject.

PRP Therapy Injection Process

PRP therapy is a three-step process, typically requiring three treatments 4 – 6 weeks apart. Once the goal is met, you will need to maintain the results with treatments every 4 to 6 months. Generally, from the arm, the first step includes your blood being drawn. Using a machine that separate fluids of different densities by spinning rapidly, known as centrifuge, the blood is treated after it is collected. After the 10 minutes in the centrifuge, your blood is separated into in three layers that include platelet-rich plasma, platelet-poor plasma, and red blood cells. The third step involves the platelet-rich plasma that is drawn up into a syringe and then injected into targeted areas of the scalp. PRP is a positive solution for those combating hair loss, though PRP for hair loss is still in its infancy, the clinical evidence and the sufficient theoretical scientific basis to support its use in hair restoration.
